Sylvia Sleigh made hats in Brighton, moved to New York, painted male nudes (often friends) in positions conventionally associated with the female form, documented the feminist art movement in great and absorbing detail, was intricately involved in the movement herself. It saddened us to hear that she died on Sunday, although there’s some sort of consolation in the assertion that her work will live on and on. (See images)www.sylviasleigh.com
