Textes and images in the public space, image campaigns, street art, signage systems, temporary installations, process- or dialogue-design, cartography have a big influence as well as signs, street furniture, vehicles, infra structure or facade design on using, experiencing or perceiving a city. „Civic City Design“ is reflecting on the background of the engrowing crisis of neoliberalism all these design practices. On the research for the Possibility of Design For a Civic City, as an emancipated tool to design a city…In spring of 2011, Design2context, the Institute for design research, leads for the second time, the Postgraduate Program Civic City. Civic City operates as a laboratory, where practitioners and theorists from the different fields of design, architecture, urban design, visual communication, sociology, anthropology and futurology cooperate in researching, developing, and discussing new perspectives on the design of urban spaces. The transdisciplinary program will be held on the same subject in three different groups working on a specific case study based in Zürich, Rotterdam and Frankfurt (from 2012 on also in Berlin)…Civic city is open for all, interested to work on «another urban».
